April Garland is an avid athlete, to say the least. April has completed 11 ultramarathons (a race of anywhere between 35-100 miles). In 2020, her goal was to run back-to-back ultramarathons in the Sangre de Cristo mountains. She completed her goal in September when she ran an ultramarathon on Saturday followed by another on Sunday, completing over 15,000 feet of elevation gain over the course of the two races. This year, April has run 6 ultramarathons and multiple other races. When she’s not running, you can find April hiking or rock climbing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. These are just some examples of April’s athletic endeavors. This inspiring woman doesn’t joke around with her fitness.
To top it off, April spends her workdays on her feet for 10 hours a shift as a respiratory therapist. She works in both the intensive care units and in outpatient diagnostics at the Children’s Hospital. April is pretty much always on the go.
A Result of Running: Tight Calves
As a result of all the running and being on her feet constantly, April has very tight calves, which causes her to have knee problems and be in pain. To help her with these issues, April sought out Moon Mother CBD Muscle Balm, which was created by Jessica Bates, an herbalist and the founder of Moon Mother. The muscle balm quickly cools and warms muscles simultaneously to soothe them and support well-functioning joints. She applies the balm to her calves and the front and back of her knees. She said, “It made me feel so much better. Now I put it on regularly, especially after a long run.”
What does April consider to be a long run? “It depends on where I’m at with the training process for a race. If I’m actively training, I run 80-100 miles a week. If I’m not training as hard, I run 45-50 miles a week.” To do some quick math, that’s an average of 5-13 miles a day. And this exercise doesn’t factor in her strength training, barre class and additional cardio such as an elliptical, bike or swimming. Yes, April needs some Moon Mother Muscle Balm. Possibly in bulk.
April also massages the muscle balm into her neck and shoulders when they’re tight and sore, and she rubs it into her feet at night.
Massaging the Muscles
After a recent 50K race, April rubbed the Moon Mother Massage Oil into her sore muscles. “It felt so nice and helped my muscles,” said April. The massage oil is a clean, plant-based formula that consists of just three ingredients: full-spectrum hemp extract, lavender essential oil and jojoba oil. The oil is formulated to get into muscle knots and tension areas.
Rest Is a Requirement
With all of April’s activity, she needs to sleep soundly when she has time to sleep. So, April tried Moon Mother’s Dream Balm, a topical balm that restores calm and balance to prepare you for sleep. The balm is formulated with a blend of calming herbs, full-spectrum help extract and soothing essential oils.
“I’ve slept much better with the Dream Balm. I put it on my temples and the back of my neck. It relaxes me and helps me sleep better,” April reported.
Choosing a CBD Company
April is a conscious buyer. “I start by looking at smaller, local stores, ones that are environmentally friendly. I’ll purchase an organic product over a non-organic product,” she explained. Moon Mother Hemp Company is just that – a local, woman-owned CBD business that only uses organic ingredients from responsibly sourced and fair-trade sources wherever possible. The hemp comes from their family-owned, USDA-certified farm in Boulder, CO. They are committed to sustainable, eco-conscious farming practices that support the land and soil, including biodynamic practices.
The Results Are In
Needless to say, Moon Mother products don’t last long in April’s household. She’s tried other CBD products before, but they haven’t been as effective as the Moon Mother products. As long as April continues her busy, active life, she’ll be using Moon Mother CBD products.
