Giving back
Giving back to the earth, and the people on it.
Our hemp comes from the land, so caring for the planet is part of how we do business. Every year, a share of every sale goes to organizations protecting the environment and bringing clean water to people who need it.
1% for the Planet
Moon Mother Hemp is a member of 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses that give at least 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes. It was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies.
For a small company like ours, it’s a simple promise with real accountability: a portion of every order you place goes back to the planet.
How it works
- We commit 1% of annual salesMembers give at least 1% of their total annual sales, not just profits, so the giving happens whether it’s a big year or a lean one.
- The money goes straight to nonprofitsMembers donate directly to approved environmental nonprofit partners. 1% for the Planet never handles the donations.
- Every year, it’s verifiedMembers submit proof of revenue and donation receipts each year, so the commitment is certified, not just promised.

For the past three years, we’ve donated to charity: water. We believe access to clean water is one of the most important human needs, and we want to be part of making it a reality for as many people as possible.
charity: water works with local partners to build sustainable, community-owned water projects, like wells, rainwater systems and piped water, in communities that need them.
How your purchase helps
- 100% of public donations fund water projectsA separate group of private supporters covers charity: water’s operating costs, so every dollar from donors like us goes to the field.
- Local partners build and maintain themProjects are built with local organizations and owned by the communities they serve.
- Every project is provenCompleted projects are tracked with photos and GPS coordinates, so donors can see where the water is flowing.
